Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2026: Connect Inspires Visits CMP

CMP Welcomes Local Pupils to Inspire the Next Generation of Young Talent

This National Apprenticeship Week, we welcomed pupils from Wellfield Middle School via the Connect Inspires programme to join CMP for an educational visit to support the future talent pipeline of our local community.

Connect Inspires is a local workforce development initiative established by Connect Northumberland to drive advancement in our community.

As part of CMP’s commitment to develop young talent, we were keen to be involved in their mission, hosting a Connect Inspires visit at our Cramlington facilities. As such, we met with Year 8 students from Wellfield Middle School on Tuesday 10th February, and were given the opportunity to introduce the group to the vast workplace opportunities available with the British Engines group and CMP.

Hosted by Andrew Myers, Learning & Development Business Partner at British Engines, the students enjoyed a get-to-know-us session, followed by tours in all three CMP manufacturing units led by heads of each division, followed by a guided hands-on activity in our research and development lab.

We were proud to have these students join us for the day and hope their visit has not only helped them understand how local businesses connect to global industries but also inspired them to consider British Engines apprenticeships as a future career path.

The Connect Inspires programme was established seven months ago and is designed to enable students of all ages to discover the career opportunities available on their doorstep. It’s an exciting programme opening doors for local young people, whilst helping shape the future workforce of the community.

Thank you to the pupils and teachers at Wellfield Middle School for visiting and to Connect Northumberland for their initiative. The future workforce of the local community is certainly bright, and we hope to see some familiar faces join our business in the coming years.
