ATEX - a Global Requirement ?

Where will ATEX ultimately apply ?

Although the ATEX directives are adopted within the European single market, and apply to material circulated and installations maintained within the EC, there will inevitably be situations where products that conform to the ATEX 95 requirements, made inside or outside the EC, will become standardised and utilised around the world. Similarly European and Foreign operators who are active in International Markets, and who have a legal responsibility to conform to the requirements of the ATEX directives, may wish to operate globally with the same common practices and procedures across various global projects that they develop. This will mean better understanding and awareness and simple transition for personnel moving between such projects, and ultimately clients of this type may require and specify compliance, by their contractors and suppliers, with the requirements of ATEX even for projects executed outside of the European Community
